Carol Gingrich Designs
Carol Gingrich is a contemporary fiber artist whose dimensional wall art and sculptural works are deeply rooted in the natural world. Living among mountains and forest, she draws daily inspiration from the quiet strength of trees, sunlight filtering through layered branches, wildflowers blooming in hidden clearings, and dandelion seeds drifting on a gentle breeze. Nature is not simply a subject in her work—it is a companion, teacher, and constant source of peace and renewal.
Carol’s artistic process is a fusion of painting and textile techniques. Each piece begins with cotton fabric backgrounds painted in acrylic, creating depth, atmosphere, and the foundation of light. From there, she builds the surface using cotton embroidery floss, wool, felt, and richly textured yarns. Through hand and machine embroidery, she layers fibers to create sculptural dimension, allowing her landscapes and tree forms to extend beyond the flat plane. The addition of fabric-painted rocks and carefully placed stitching creates shadows and highlights that shift with changing light, bringing movement and life to every piece.
Her work blurs the boundary between painting and sculpture. Rather than simply depicting nature, she reconstructs it in fiber—inviting viewers to step closer, to explore texture, and to experience a tactile connection with the landscape. Each stitched line and layered thread becomes part of a larger story about growth, resilience, and transformation.
As a senior woman artist living with a disability, Carol’s creative journey is interwoven with perseverance and strength. Art has become both a voice and a pathway forward, reflecting her determination to continue growing despite obstacles. The trees she creates often symbolize endurance—roots anchored firmly, branches reaching upward. They mirror her own life experience: grounded, resilient, and always reaching toward light.
Carol’s sculptures, including her willow tree forms with stacked stone bases and movable branches, further embody this sense of personality and spirit. Each tree is individually shaped, carrying its own gesture and presence. Whether green, blossoming, or pure white, her willows represent hope, renewal, and the beauty of individuality.
Through her work, Carol seeks to share the calm she experiences in nature. In a fast-moving world, her art offers a moment of stillness—a place to breathe, reflect, and reconnect. The textures invite touch, the layers invite contemplation, and the imagery invites memory.
Ultimately, Carol Gingrich’s art is about joy. It is about finding light through foliage, beauty in imperfection, and strength in quiet persistence. With every thread and brushstroke, she celebrates the enduring power of nature—and the resilience of the human spirit.
