Domenico Belli
Domenico Belli was born in Patrica, a small town in the hill country approximately forty miles southeast from Rome. He started his work as metal worker at the age of sixteen and showed an early interest and talent for his job. At the age of eighteen, his parents decided to emigrate to America where he found employment as metal worker and welder and also developed his skill as an artist and designer. He started to create primitive sculpture from reclaimed steel for several years. about ten years ago he discovered his passion for the abstract and contemporary sculpture and it was love at fist sight. Today he builds only large scale sculpture using stainless steel, Cor-Ten steel and bronze.
He love creating and building that which is deemed impossible or improbable. It is what drive him and keep him mentally and physically occupied for most of his time. He is partial to the freedom of expression that his passion allows as he said that he is fortunate enough to be able to exercise that right in all facets of his works.
He shows his sculpture all over in the United States, he attends about 25 of the most important Fine Arts Festival each year. His sculpture are in private collections as well as in public places. One of the most important installation is in Italy in his own town Patrica ( FR) It is a 20ft tall Cor-Ten steel abstract sculpture called ” Patrica Meja” and it is a tribute for all the people who left that little town to emigrated in other countries. He received many rewards for his sculpture.
