Artist Jennifer Moné Hill uses unique techniques to create her abstract works. Moving very runny, thinned, acrylic paint by swiping, blowing air, and using tools such as palette knives. Paint is mixed to a consistency that allows it to flow across the surface, and motion is used to create her signature cells, wisps and drips. A final coating of varnish is carefully hand applied, unifying the surface. Hill’s art is the fusion of controlling the uncontrollable, using old and creating new techniques, pushing materials to the limit, exploring emotion, and the interaction of color. Although the work is abstract, inspiration from nature, particularly water, is evident due to the fluidity of the medium. It is very graphic from a distance.
