| About Me. I am a self-taught abstract painter and live in the Atlanta area. I was raised in a military family, spending my childhood overseas and all over the Eastern US. These dynamic early experiences instilled a life-long interest in diverse people and places, in art and culture, as well as strong bonds to family and friends. I’ve held a wild assortment of careers including jewelry sales, stand – up comedy and pet sitting. Aside from creating my art I like to spend time cooking for friends, binge-watching the latest TV shows and cuddling up with my trio of kitties and spoiled dog! About My Art. I began painting in 2003, sort of on a whim, but to see how I might be able to express my creative energy through visual art. I found that I enjoy working with the full spectrum of acrylic paints and mediums, such as modeling paste and gloss gels, applied to stretched canvas in heavy layers to build mood and character on the surface. I further employ tools such as palette knives, scrapers and textiles to complete the compositions. It is imperative for me that my end results be colorful, textural, powerful and most importantly individual. Painting in the abstract allows for the visual and emotional experience of the work to be unique for each person viewing it. That is what thrills me and the reason I continue to do this. |
